Pita Brot (libanesisch)

Undoubtedly the most famous bread in the Middle East, pita varies by region. This Lebanese recipe pairs perfectly with falafel, hummus, or salads.

In a small bowl, mix the yeast with the water and add the sugar.

In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour and salt, then add the dissolved yeast and milk. Mix well.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

Shape into a ball, place it in the bowl, cover with oiled plastic wrap, and let rest for at least 1 hour in a warm place until it doubles in size.

Preheat the oven to 230°C.

Form 6 balls of dough, then roll them out into circles 20 cm in diameter, place them on 2 baking sheets, and moisten them with a little water.

Bake for 7 to 9 minutes in the middle of the oven until golden brown.
